We officially have
tried out our new camper (see
last issue). The original plan was if I could
get Friday off we would take a little road trip.
If not (and in this case it was not) we would
set up camp locally. After work on a Friday is
NOT a good time to find a camp site, especially
if you just drove for 3 hours. For some reason
instead of going with the plan and staying local,
we headed to Rockford. The first campground we
tried was all booked up. I then got on the cell
phone to check on another campground near by and
they were full also. We didn't have a campground
book so we were kind of blind finding these places.
We tend to gravitate to state parks and those
show on a map.
It was getting worrisome
that we would find a place to set up camp. The
next place on the list was another 45 minutes
away and it was now getting dark. I was so afraid
we would either be staying at a hotel or driving
home.
After being mislead
by the map, we finally found Lowden State Park.
They had spots, no problem. They seemed pretty
easy going for a state park. We find us a nice
spot and work on trying to back our beast into
its space, in the dark. We found our home.
The weather for our
weekend was perfect and we had nice neighbors.
There was a 5 year old boy that Hollace played
with.
As I said this park
was pretty laid back but there was one rule they
had....Alchol Prohibited in the Campground.
Even though the neighbors
had a nice campfire going and we were hanging
out there anyway, RAW still decided to start
our fire. It was pretty smoky which attracted
the attention of DNR who came by to investigate
and caught RAW and the neighbor guy (a fireman
no doubt) drinking a beer. A beer oh no! The DNR
gave both RAW and neighbor guy a $75 citation!
We were suppose to
be camping right now. I this time, I took Friday
off but at midnight last night RAW said we
aren't going. He was having technical difficulties
with both of his vehicles. I went into work today.
