Potty Training

It looks like my theory on potty training is right, at least so far. After ignoring all the grama's pressures to force Hollace to potty train, I went with my instinct to let her tell me when she is ready. Well she was ready the first week in December when something clicked with her and started going in the potty. She doesn't even tell me, she just goes in and does it and maybe mentions it afterwards.

It has been 2 weeks now and we haven't looked back. No accidents. She uses big potties while out and about with no problem. The other day at ArtWorks she went and did a #2 in the big toilet and only told dad afterwards.

She still wears the diaper at bed time but after last night it wasn't too wet and her first potty of the day was a full pot, so maybe not too long there either.

Speaking about last night. Miss Hollace had the stomach flu. About an hour after going to bed (and complaining about a tummy ache) she exploded, threw up everywhere. Poor thing, she was upset. We sat in the living room till midnight with her telling me her famous "knock knock" jokes (i.e., knock, knock; who's there?; banana; banana who?; orange!) between waves of nausea.

This morning she started out fine but did throw up twice. The second time we just went to the bathroom to get Advil because it looked like she had a headache but instead the pained look on her face was because she was about to toss her cookies. I seen that and aimed, held her over the toilet and whoosh it went in! Good catch.

Advil Addict

A couple nights ago Hollace complains of a tummy ache. She says, "I have a tummy ache, I need Advil" I told her Advil doesn't help tummy aches. She insists that she needs Advil. I told her that Advil is for when your teeth hurt or if your ears hurt. She immediately puts her fingers in her ears and says "oww, oww, my ears hurt, I need Advil" I guess I should of seen that coming. I finally cave in and give her a little dose. She says yummy then says that her ears and her tummy are all better now. Quick acting and apparently too yummy tasting!

My Birthday Cake

I spent my birthday out shopping for everyone else for Christmas (as usual) and when I came home Hollace was helping her daddy put the candles on a chocolate cake that RAW made from scratch. It would of been a perfect cake if RAW would of used powdered sugar for the frosting instead of granulated sugar. It was yummy anyway. Here is a picture of it and the mess that was left. I cleaned it up even though I didn't have to.

New Toys

This is a time of year I buy myself a new toy. This year I finally went with a digital camera. I have been resisting the urge for a long time. The resolution just wasn't there. I was afraid of getting a masterpiece photo and only having this pixelly version of it. I was happy with my Canon A2E and just scanning in those so called masterpieces.

Well, I tested out the Canon G1 camera the photographers use at work and found the resolution satisfactory to pull a 11x14 off my Epson photo printer if I needed to. I went and bought a Canon G2, the updated version of the G1. It is a 4mb pixel camera. I love it! It has some cool software that comes with it that lets me hook it up to the laptop and use that to preview and shoot my camera from.

For mine and RAW's part of the Christmas card or for the family portraits for that matter, we sat on the couch with the laptop on the floor. We posed ourselves watching the preview on the computer and then tapped the spacebar to shoot the camera. Then the photo shows up in another window. Since we are hooked to the computer we can take as many photos as my harddrive will hold and that is alot more than my 256mb card will hold.

Another toy I bought wasn't a fun purchase but a painful one. In the middle of my Epson 1270 printer's, busy season the cyan jet started to get squirrelly. After cleaning the heck out of it, I finally had to call in some professionals. The printer head was going out and it was going to cost me $300 to fix! Well I had a dilemna, this printer cost me $500 because it is large format (13"x19") and it was 6 months past warranty. If I had used my Visa card on this purchase I would of had warrantly protection which doubles your original warranty but sadly I didn't. I had just sold my old car and had the cash back then...lesson learned the hard way. So do I pay $300 to fix it or another $200 and get a new higher resolution one with the double warranty since I wasn't going to make the same mistake again. I went ahead and bought the newer model of large format printer (Epson 1280).

This year's Christmas card was sure an expensive one between the digital camera (all parts of that was shot on the new camera) and the printer I had to buy to print it out with. Here is hoping for a long life for both the camera and the printer.

The Race

...the movie

I have edited my first feature film, well all 2.5 minutes of it. It is 3mbs as either a Quicktime or Windows Media movie or if you have a really fast connection, download the 9mb version. It is worth the download so go check it out.

3.4Mb QT or 3.4Mb WMV,
